This 45cm built-in compact oven from Hotpoint combines a conventional oven with a 950W microwave in a stainless steel finish. The 52 litre cavity has three cooking levels, so you can cook several dishes at the same temperature at once without flavour passing between them. Hotpoint says this can save up to 43% energy and 61% cooking time compared with cooking the same dishes in three separate runs. It has seven power levels, forced air for baking and roasting, a 2000W heating element grill, and rapid defrost, where you choose the food type and weight.

Dynamic Crisp and CrispFry help you get crisp, golden results with the supplied crisp plate. They suit foods such as pizza, halloumi, chips and fried chicken, and CrispFry uses less fat than deep frying. Gentle Steam lets you add water to a dedicated recess and choose from three steam settings for bread, fish and meat. MyMenu and the automatic programmes set the cooking function and temperature for you, and a grey baking tray is included.

Control is by a mono dial and LCD display, with an electronic timer, clock and child lock. With HomeWhiz (WiFi and Bluetooth), you can preheat from your phone, follow guided recipes, check progress and be notified when food is ready. The Diamond Clean cycle uses steam to soften residue so it wipes away without chemicals. The drop-front door closes softly.
